Check out our volunteer application!
Standard ticket arrival and check in begins at noon on Friday the 29th of August. If you've purchased an early arrival add-on, then you may arrive and check in at noon on Thursday the 28th. If you arrive before your scheduled arrival time, you will have to wait in line at check in, and will not be allowed on site until the check in process is ready to begin.
When you arrive on site you will be directed to our check in station, where the Town Guards of Ashveil will confirm your registration and direct you to where you can unload your vehicle. Once your vehicle is unloaded, you will park your vehicle in the lot before returning to set up your tent (if you have one) and prepare for The Faire to begin!
The world of Faeble will be alive and active from the moment you check in until game off is sounded on Monday. Even the check in process itself will be conducted by staff who are playing the role of Town Guards for Ashveil, checking your registration for the faire. Prior to the opening ceremony Friday evening, The Market will be open, culture leaders will be assisting with setting up the camps, and the guilds will be preparing their spaces in the town. This is a great opportunity to get to know some of the faces around Faeble, learn a bit about the world, and prepare your own in game areas.
The game technically begins the moment you arrive on site! But there will be an opening ceremony for The Faire itself at 6pm on Friday evening, and game off will be called at 3pm on Monday.
Of course! However, cars are only allowed on premises prior to the beginning of the opening ceremony (which starts at 6pm on Friday) and must remain off site until the conclusion of the event (at 3pm on Monday). If you need assistance; see our staff.
We have several accommodation options from onsite private hotel rooms to bunks to camping (in or out of game). Check out the list of our options here!
There are abundant plumbed bathrooms and public showers around The Faire grounds of Ashveil! You'll never be far from amenities and running water, so there will be no “portable toilets” to worry about.
You can of course bring your own food for the event, which you can cook on portable charcoal or gas grills (although it's a best practice to disguise modern equipment when it's safe to do so) but there will also be a variety of food options available for purchase on site.
Individuals who are 21 years of age at the start of the event will be given a visually distinct event tag. You must keep this on your person, and so long as you do, you can bring your own alcohol to Ashveil, or purchase drinks from the tavern using our in game currency! However, fighting while inebriated is strictly prohibited, and doing so can result in disciplinary action including, but not limited to expulsion from the event.
Yes, children are not only welcome but free! All children 17 years and younger are free with the purchase of an adult ticket. Minors must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
In order to openly take photos at Faeble you must be in contract with the event, which can be accomplished subject to approval, by reaching out to info@faeble-larp.com This is to help maintain the immersion and enjoyment of all attendees by limiting the amount of blatantly modern technology that is visible. However, if you sufficiently disguise your electric device of choice (in a magic tome, or similar prop), then you may discreetly take photos of yourself and other consenting individuals. If others complain about your use of this device being obtrusive though, disciplinary action may follow.
Only service animals will be allowed on site.
Game Mechanics
The nations of Faeble will be gathering for an unprecedented affair - the formation of an alliance forged in mutual friendship and cooperation. There will be fun and merriment, politics and intrigue; and most certainly the bonds of the alliance shall be tested!
LARP (Live Action Role-Playing) is like playing a video game or a TTRPG but in real life. Instead of rolling dice at a table, you physically act out your character’s actions, wear costumes, and interact with other players in a shared immersive world. At Faeble Faire, what you see is that you get!
At Faeble Faire, you can expect the traditional quests and storylines of a LARP, however the central gathering area will have the lively atmosphere of a renaissance faire. This means that when players aren’t out adventuring, they can immerse themselves in a bustling space filled with vendors selling goods and food, a tavern overlooking the lake where they can enjoy a drink, competitions to watch or participate in, and as the sun sets gather at the ritual circle to watch the spectacle of performance and magical display combined. More than just a place of rest between quests, this area will feel like a true medieval faire, bringing the world of Faeble to life.
PvE (Player vs Environment) is a game where the main focus is on players collaborating and working together to overcome challenges created by the game organizers rather than competing against one another.
Yes, but not in the traditional sense. Instead of players taking on NPC shifts, we have a Professional Monster Crew dedicated to portraying enemies, creatures, and key story-driven characters throughout the event, this ensures high-quality encounters and immersion. Additionally, once per event, each faction will step out of play to represent the enemies of the alliance in a large-scale battle. While participation in this is not mandatory, we ask that if you choose to fight in one of these battles as your character, you also take part in the other as a monster. This means that when the armies of the alliance march, they have real foes to face.
The Town Guards are our primary Referees. to maintain immersion throughout the world, they will have in-game personas and wear distinctive uniforms while on duty, making them easily recognizable. Their primary role is to assist players, answer questions, and oversee the enforcement of game rules, interacting in character whenever possible. However, when addressing out-of-game issues such as safety concerns they will use a designated referee flag which when held aloft marks a 10-foot radius around them as out of play, allowing them to handle matters efficiently!
There’s plenty to do at Faeble beyond combat! You can immerse yourself in ritualistic magic, test your skills in faire competitions, or shape the future of the alliance through politics and diplomacy or just kick back and enjoy some good company in a fantasy world.
Yes! You will be given some starter coin upon arrival to Ashveil as thanks for attending The Faire, but you can also purchase more coin (for USD) from the treasurer. In-game coin can be used for lots of things from purchasing drinks and snacks at the inn, to buying alchemical components, or hiring a bard to play at your private party! Primarily, in-game coin is intended to be a roleplay token. It can be used however you see fit, but is also largely optional, and there is no place for a “pay to win” mentality at Faeble.
While in The Faire area, we expect players to adhere to certain costume standards to maintain immersion. This means avoiding visibly out-of-world modern clothing and keeping modern items such as phones, soda cans, and water bottles out of sight. By doing so, we ensure that the atmosphere remains fully immersive and in keeping with the decorum of the setting.
Combat at Faeble is theatrical in style. This means that while all strikes should be lightest touch and safe, they should also be big, heroic and showy! You should not be fighting to win, you should be fighting to look good! For more information about combat check out what the Rules Guide has to say about it!
Weapon carrying and use is strictly regulated by The Town Guards of Ashveil. As such, all weapons and ammunition will need to be registered prior to use. This registration will include an inspection to ensure they meet community safety standards before being used at The Faire. After this initial check it is the responsibility of the player to maintain their weapons in a safe condition and remove any that become damaged during the event. At any point during The Faire, The Town Guards have the right to remove weapons from play that they believe to be unsafe. Failure to present weapons at check in may result in the removal of combat privileges. Weapons and ammunition purchased from event vendors will automatically meet safety standards at the time of purchase and will come with registration, but players must continue to ensure they remain in safe working order.
Melee Weapons (any weapon or prop that will be touching another player - even incidentally) must be cleared by the Town Guards before use at Faeble. These weapons should be “LARP safe” and if you haven’t LARPed before; we recommend that you purchase a weapon from a trusted manufacturer, like Calimacil, Epic Armory, or Nemesis to ensure that your weapon will be safe for use. Any weapons brought to Faeble should match the aesthetic of these manufacturers listed above to maintain an immersive experience.
Shields can be constructed out of a variety of materials, but regardless of design they must be built in such a way that their use does not pose a threat of injury to the wielder or anyone who might incidentally contact it under normal conditions. This means that under normal use, it should not pose a risk of cutting or abraising someone who comes into contact with the sides or face of the shield. The manufacturers listed above also make wonderful shields for anyone new to the hobby, or who is unsure about where to get one.
Bows (and similar instruments of projection) must be cleared by the Town Guards before use at Faeble. Bows must have a draw weight of 30 pounds or less at 28 inches of draw. Compound bows are not allowed. Any bow (or similar) that does not conform to standard size or specification will be subject to additional scrutiny to help ensure the safety of participants.
Arrows (and bolts) must be cleared by the Town Guards before use at Faeble. Arrow shafts over 28 inches in length are required to have a draw stop (such as a ring of tape around the shaft) to ensure that they do not get over-drawn and fired with greater force than intended. Arrows of professional construction, from companies carrying third-party product insurance such as IDV are suggested for anyone new to LARPing.
Band-guns and their specialized ammunition (bands) must be cleared by the Town Guards before use at Faeble. Bands fired from a gun at bare skin from a distance of one foot should not cause injury. Always point your band-gun at the ground while loading.
The guilds exist to open up new storylines and quests beyond the main plot and all its politics, offering different opportunities for character growth. Want to explore the underbelly of Ashveil? Join the Foxes' Den. Prefer to craft your own heroic persona and become the talk of the town? The Silver Shields may be for you. Rather than providing skill progression, guilds serve as a way to enrich your character’s journey through storytelling and roleplay.
Legendary talents are earned through story-driven play and are not guaranteed. Gaining a legendary talent is meant to be rare and meaningful - happening organically from consistent character actions and narrative play. Each character’s path to a legendary talent will be unique, and our staff will be watching for those who truly earn them. However players should not attend The Faire with the primary goal of obtaining one, as Faeble is about the stories you create and the connections you make. Those are the moments that will stay with you long after The Faire ends.
